Cruise – Day 6 – Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe

This is the port we’ve been waiting on. Guadeloupe is home to the filming of Death in Paradise on the BBC and we are sad enough to be fans.

This mornings balcony view was lovely again.

Guadeloupe is a French island so the main currency we were told was Euros. Luckily we had a few lying around.

We had to be up early for the 0830, Death in Paradise, excursion. We met in the Broadway Show Lounge (BSL).

Then it was only a couple of minutes before we were told to head to the bus.

Met up with Jamal the tour guide and Fred the bus driver and headed off.

After an hour in the coach we arrived at Pearl Beach (i think that’s what it was called anyway).

This is the beach where the Inspectors house is built. The following photo is from https://deathinparadise.fandom.com/wiki/The_Shack

Was very cool being there (Yes yes, it is sad). Here’s some pics.

After a little while there Fred made a pit stop so we could take photos at a viewpoint.

After that it was off to Saint Marie. Or Dechaies as its called. This is where the police station was and Katherine’s Bar.

A wee AI edited video from the fancy camera.

Few photos too

Was a great wee outing. Loved having a couple of the local beers at Katherine’s Bar. Also Desperado Red. Very tasty.

The guide said that Guadeloupe was very new to tourism and it was the show that drew attention to it. After a mooch about the town we popped in a tasted some wares at this place.

Bought some kind of local booze and a wee bbq sauce.

After that it was back to the ship.

We had booked an “experience” called The Heist, which is hosted in the bars speak-easy bar called the exchange.

I won’t put too much about it in case it spoils it for someone, but basically it was actors and audience participation. I do hate to participate.

They did have some cracking cocktails though.

The actors were awesome, Emma loved it. Not my thing at all though.

After that we thought we’d better eat so had a spot of tea in Latitude 53. Some tasty sea bass for me.

We were already getting a bit tipsy so thought we’d go to the Squid and Anchor for another couple to finish the job. Turned out one of the house bands was playing. Dem Boyz. The were good.

Whiskey was an error.

So were the night cap baileys

Cheers
